Useful Info & FAQ's
What is 18K Gold PVD Plating?
We use 18k Gold PVD-plated stainless steel chains. Stainless steel is a strong, durable metal known for its resistance to rust, tarnish, and corrosion, making it an excellent choice for jewellery. PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) is an advanced plating method that bonds a micro-thin layer of real gold to surgical-grade stainless steel in a high-temperature vacuum chamber. This creates an ultra-resistant gold finish at a more accessible price point.
It's one of the most durable modern plating methods available - far superior to standard gold plating - so your chains will keep their shine and colour for the long run.
What Does Gold-Filled Mean?
Gold-filled is a high-quality alternative to standard gold plating and a more affordable alternative to solid gold.
It’s made by bonding a thick layer of real gold (this means the layer of gold is 5% or 1/20th of the total weight) to a core metal (like brass) through heat and pressure. Gold-filled items have up to 100x more gold than typical gold-plated items, ensuring they can last. Gold-filled is the MVP for high-wear areas (like clasps).
All Eske London pieces are made using 14K gold-filled components and findings (clasps, jump rings, connectors, etc.) -so the areas under the most friction from rubbing are protected from wear and retain the luxury look of solid gold for the long run.
Is Eske London Jewellery Waterproof?
We use thick gold-filled parts and tough PVD-coated chains, so you don’t have to worry about tarnishing from water or daily wear.
For long-lasting shine, though, we recommend avoiding frequent and consistent exposure to chlorine or salt water, especially with the more delicate gemstones or pearls. Harsh chemicals can dull the lustre of the jewellery over time.
Will Your Jewellery Tarnish or Turn My Skin Green?
No, gold-filled and PVD-plated pieces resist tarnish and are nickel-free. Even with daily wear, they’re designed to resist tarnish without irritating or discolouring your skin.
Is Eske London Jewellery Hypoallergenic?
Yes, all Eske London pieces are made with nickel-free, skin-friendly metals. Our gold-filled components and 18K PVD-plated stainless steel chains are safe for sensitive skin.
How Long Will My Jewellery Last?
Our jewellery can last for years with proper care.
It is a fact that all jewellery (other than real solid gold) will naturally fade over time with excessive exposure to skin oils, moisture, and chemicals. Gold-filled and PVD coatings are highly resistant to tarnish, but no material is indestructible. Treat them well, and they’ll shine for years to come. We recommend following our care tips (below) for maximum longevity.
How Should I Care For My Jewellery?
Our jewellery is made to be low-maintenance and to last, but a little care goes a long way. For long-lasting shine & radiance:
-When not wearing, gently wipe with a soft cloth and store in a dry pouch.
-Avoid direct contact with chemicals like perfume, moisturiser, makeup or suncream where possible.
-Consider removing it for swimming (chlorine and salt water can damage coatings over time).
-Be especially careful with up-cycled pieces, as we cannot guarantee the exact origin or composition of our up-cycled gemstones, beads, and pearls.
Are Your Stones and Pearls Real?
Yes! We use genuine semi-precious stones and pearls, carefully selected for their timeless symbolism, natural beauty, and energetic properties — no plastic imitations.
While we cannot guarantee the exact origin or composition of our up-cycled gemstones, beads, and pearls, we always strive to choose high-quality pieces that we trust to be both authentic and beautiful.

What Is The Meaning Behind Each Gemstone or Pearl?
You’ll find a little note in each product description about the meaning behind the gemstones or pearls, so you can choose one that feels right for you.
Where Do You Source Your Beads, Gemstones and Pearls?
Each piece of jewellery is thoughtfully made using a mix of new and repurposed materials. I source semi-precious stones, pearls and beads from trusted UK-based suppliers.
Occasionally, I source semi-precious stones, pearls and beads from small local shops while travelling abroad or from vintage jewellery — including pieces that once belonged to family or were found in charity shops. Repurposing vintage elements not only makes each piece unique but also adds a sense of story and sustainability.
If a material is sourced from outside the UK or is vintage, this will always be noted in the product description.
Which Parts Are Handmade?
While I source the chains, I hand-make everything else. I make the bead connectors, thread each gemstone and pearl, and attach all the clasps and findings. Each piece is assembled, polished, and inspected by me.
Will My Jewellery Look Exactly Like the Photo?
Because we use genuine gemstones and freshwater pearls, each piece will have subtle variations in size, shape, and colour.
No two stones or pearls are ever exactly the same, so while your piece will closely match the design shown in the photo, there may be slight natural differences. These small variations are what give each item its natural, unique charm.
Do You Offer Adjustable or Custom Sizes?
Most of our bracelets and necklaces come with an extender chain for easy adjustment — just check the product description for exact measurements (all sizes are approximate and may vary ever so slightly)
If you’re after a custom size, feel free to email us at hello@eskelondon.com before placing your order!
Do You Offer Custom Orders?
Yes, I can create custom pieces. If you’re interested in a custom piece, message us on Instagram or email us via our 'Contact Us' page so we can start designing.
Will Items Restock Once Sold out?
Most of our items are limited edition and will not be restocked in the same design once sold out. Some popular styles may return in slight variations. We create in small batches to ensure uniqueness and quality, meaning once a design is gone, it may be gone for good.
Our pieces made from up-cycled vintage jewellery or sourced from markets abroad are all limited edition and will not be restocked.
Is Eske London Ethically Produced?
Our made-to-order model eliminates excess inventory and reduces material waste.
Most of the materials used to make the jewellery are sourced from UK-based suppliers to minimise transportation emissions and support local businesses.
We use durable materials to ensure longevity, reducing the need for frequent replacements.
